Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphoedema Clinic

Lymphoedema is a chronic condition that causes swelling in the body’s tissues. Most often the arms and legs are affected, but anywhere in the body can be affected. Lymphoedema can lead to aches and pains and heaviness in the affected body parts.

Typical signs of Lymphoedema

A limb or body part begins with a little swelling that increases over time  The skin can feel tight, and there may be a tingling sensation in the area. Clothing and jewellery can feel more tight. The affected area feels heavy, and can be achey.

Cancer treatment can block, damage or remove lymph nodes and vessels. The lymph fluid therefore cannot drain effectively. This results in a build up of fluid in the tissues, Lymphoedema.

Treatment for lymphoedema

There is currently no cure for lymphoedema. There are however things that can manage the condition, reduce the swelling and relieve symptoms.

Exercise, movement encourages the lymph fluid to flow and may help to reduce the swelling

Compression sleeve or stocking, a garment that fits tightly, compressing and helping the lymph to flow.

Massage, manual lymphatic drainage, a specialist treatment to pump the fluid from the swollen parts.

Reflexology lymph drainage, a specialist reflexology treatment, by massaging the feet, it encourages lymphatic flow and move fluid away from swollen areas in the body.

I invite those that are affected by lymphoedema to come along to my Clinic. Here I offer Reflexology Lymph Drainage as explained below.

Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD)  £30

This specialist treatment is for those that wish to detoxify and boost their immune system. It is also especially useful in reducing lymphoedema, swelling and puffiness.

lymphatic drainage is especially useful following surgery. It eases away swelling and may help with tissue scarring and pain.

I have discovered that lymphatic  drainage  is helpful with chronic pain, and nerve discomfort and pain. I have found it is a useful treatment for those with fibromyalgia and restless leg syndrome, it is also effective for those with sore or swollen feet and ankles.

It may help relieve congested, blocked sinuses, relieve headache pain. In my experience, this treatment has helped people who suffer from congestion and poor circulation in their feet and legs.

RLD is a reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes in the feet.

Sally Kay BSc(Hons) has develped and researched this unique reflexology sequence.
